2018 Is Your Year

You ARE going to reach your fitness goals in 2018.

Actually the more you read, the more likely you are to achieve your goals. Because the more you read, the more committed you are to defining them, to imagining them, to picturing yourself succeeding.

You’ve already made the first step, and that step is seeking out the opinion of a fitness professional. I’m going to get you started with my top five pro tips to successfully reaching your fitness goals this year.

1) CLEARLY define your goal. And then break your goal down into smaller goals. Remember that progress might not be linear. There will be ups and downs. This is normal.

2) Start small and build up. If you’ve never been in a gym before, setting a goal of going to the gym 6 days a week will probably not be sustainable. Or healthy.

3) Add a healthy habit before you try to subtract an unhealthy habit. Once you start incorporating healthy habits into your daily routine, quite often, the unhealthy habits subside naturally.

4) Do your research, especially when it comes to nutrition. Don’t believe everything you read on the internet! I’ll give you a BIG pro tip here: research on nutrition does NOT include reading/watching testimonials and before and after pictures. Those are just ploys to get you to make an emotional decision to buy into a certain product or program. Research should include scientific studies or articles that can cite scientific studies.

5) Start out with a fitness professional and/or nutrition specialist. They will be able to help you set realistic, sustainable goals and they can show you how to reach your goals safely. And they can adjust the strategy as you go along to keep you healthy and on track. They will also be able to help you with pro tips 1-4! Especially #4 which is the most important and hardest aspect of fitness.

So now that you’ve read through this whole article, can’t you just picture yourself succeeding? I can. I know you can. I know you can because these are the things I’ve done to achieve my fitness goals. These are the things that most people do to achieve and maintain their fitness goals. And these are the steps that will give you the results you want. Results that are healthy and sustainable. The kind of results that won’t have you looking for the next fad diet next year when you’re making your 2019 resolutions.

Fitness isn’t a 30 day detox, a 6 week challenge, a cleanse or any specific diet. Fitness and health are just a way of living. And it can look different for different people. It’s not as restrictive as you think it is, if you let someone who knows what they’re doing help you.
